Organizations, institutions, and individuals seeking to promote more inclusive environments can join a meaningful conversation on the history, culture, and future of Indigenous communities at Field Inclusive’s Indigenous Peoples’ Day (IPD) webinar, On the Swamp: A Conversation with Dr. Ryan Emanuel, on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 7:00–8:00 p.m. Eastern.

Field Inclusive is honored to welcome Dr. Ryan Emanuel, Hydrologist, Author, Justice & Indigenous Rights Advocate, as our IPD speaker. Emanuel brings powerful insights on Indigenous knowledge, sovereignty, water rights, land stewardship, and environmental justice, drawing from his background in hydrology, scholarship, and advocacy as a member of the Lumbee Tribe. This conversation, conceived and moderated by FI volunteer Reagan McGuinn, will highlight the importance of Indigenous perspectives in shaping a just and inclusive future for both people and the natural world.

“At Field Inclusive, we believe conversations like this are essential to honoring Indigenous voices and advancing environmental justice,” says Lauren D. Pharr, FI Co-Founder and CFO. “I’ve had the privilege of hearing Ryan speak before, and I can say with confidence that you won’t want to miss this conversation. His insights are both deeply personal and profoundly relevant — a reminder of the connections between land, culture, and community.”

Field Inclusive strives to bring strong speakers and voices into this space to discuss inequities and share stories that often go unheard. This IPD event invites participants to learn, reflect, and celebrate Indigenous cultures while continuing the work toward equity and access in natural spaces.

Online registration for this one-hour webinar is now open. Participants will be able to log into the webinar and view it on their computers or mobile devices using the registration link.

Participants who sign up for and attend the entirety of the webinar will be entered to win a signed copy of Dr. Emanuel’s book, “On the Swamp: Fighting for Indigenous Environmental Justice”. 2 copies will be available.

For general or technical questions about accessing the webinar, please email info@fieldinclusive.org. This webinar will be closed captioned and archived online approximately 24 hours following the live event.
